After beating Brondby in Glasgow 2-0, Rangers will aim to climb into the Top 2 of Group A when they take on the Danish side at Brondby Stadion on Thursday night. The Gers aim to build on a splendid 6-1 win over Motherwell, but they will have to prove their worth on the pitch. Zambian Sakala should keep his place in the starting XI after scoring a hat-trick at the weekend, while players like Barisic, Helander, Jack, Kent and Ofoborh are expected to sit out with injuries.

Brondby, on the other hand, do not look competitive at this level. The Yellow-Blues are in 6th position in the Danish Super League standings, and since they have yet to find the net in the group stage of the Europa League 2021/2022, an away win should be considered. All of Hermansen, Uhre and Wikstrom have been struggling with last-minute injuries.

Highlighted player

Jon McLaughlin
Jon McLaughlin is a goalkeeper who plays for Sunderland. In the past, the 188 cm tall goalkeeper has played for non-League teams Harrogate Railway Athletic and Harrogate Town, but in 2008 he joined Bradford City. After spending six years at Valley Parade, McLaughlin signed a contract with Burton Albion and since then he has played for the team at the Pirelli Stadium.

Jon McLaughlin made 45 appearances for Burton Albion in the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons and established himself as the team’s starting goalkeeper. He was producing scintillating displays for Burton in the 2015/2016 League One campaign and he undoubtedly helped the team secure promotion to the Championship.

Jon McLaughlin was born on September 9, 1987 in Edinburgh, but has yet to make his debut for the Scottish national team. Speaking of his honors, the goalkeeper won the Football League Two play-offs with Bradford City in the 2012/2013 season.

Highlighted Team

Rangers
Glasgow Rangers are one of the two synonyms of Scottish soccer. Glasgow Rangers were founded in 1872 and have played an important role in the Scottish top flight ever since. The Gers won their 54th Scottish First Division title in the 2010/2011 season, but winning the European Champions Cup trophy in 1972 is considered the club’s greatest success.

Glasgow Rangers defeated Dynamo Moscow in the final of the competition, with goals from Stein and Johnston (two goals) for the Scottish side. Celtic is considered the club’s biggest rival and there have always been fireworks when the two teams meet in the Old Firm derby. The likes of Paul Gascoigne, David Weir, Stefan Klos, Chris Boyd, Ian Durrant and Kenny Miller are some of the notable former Rangers players.

It should be noted that the Gers host their rivals at the Ibrox Stadium, the venue with a capacity of 50,817 spectators. Rangers’ support comes largely from the Protestant unionist community.
